Oil Tank Abandonment & Removal
When converting from oil to gas or a heat pump, the existing oil tank needs to be properly abandoned or removed. A.J. What type of tank should I install?
We typically recommend Roth or Granby double-wall tanks. They have an inner and outer shell that provides secondary containment and extends tank life. Their secondary containment can provide additional protection compared with a single-wall tank. Insurance requirements vary, so the homeowner should confirm any carrier-specific condition before choosing equipment.
Do I need a permit for oil tank replacement?
